2015 Tet Festival at History Park, San Jose
On February 28, 2015, the 2015 MVNCI court made our way to the highly anticipated celebration hosted in San Jose, CA — the Tet Festival! As we stepped onto the grounds of History/Kelley Park, the Tet atmosphere came alive with lunar decorations, individuals dressed in cultural-wear, and music. We first setup our booth where we planned to hand out red envelopes filled with chocolate coins, toy cars, and tiaras to the children that stopped by, as we waited for the opening ceremony to begin. MVNCI Inter-Pageant Picnic
On Saturday, September 27, 2014, MVNCI hosted our first ever Inter-pageant picnic at Almaden Lake Park – Peppertree in San Jose. It was an opportunity for NorCal pageants to get together and socialize, outside of only seeing each other at pageant events. Luckily, Cindy brought her bright pink canopy to set-up so that guests will be able to easily locate us in the park, and it gave us additional shade as well. On Sunday, August 3, 2014, Crystal, Cindy, and I attended NAAAP SF’s Summer BBQ & Potluck on behalf of Jet Duong’s extended invitation to MVNCI. On Friday, June 6, 2014, Crystal, Mandy, Cindy, and I participated in SJSU VSA’s “Legends” Culture Show during the Ao Dai Fashion Show segment, showcasing talented designer Kevin Truong’s work. The Culture Show is annually held at the end of the school year and represents the culmination of what the VSA students have been tirelessly working on throughout the past year.
