On June 25, 2016, Quan, Savannah, Y, Jullianne, and I donated clothes and volunteered at Sacred Heart Community Service in San Jose. This charity provides resources and services to poor working families such as clothes, food, parenting classes, and preschool education.
Quan, Savannah, Y, Jullianne, and I were placed in the food pantry along with the alumni of Notre Dame to sort out food bags to the families that qualified to get them. These bags are distributed once every two weeks and have a large variety of food to help them get through the month. Quan, Savannah, and Jullianne formed an assembly line with the other ladies to put different food items such as pasta, tomato sauce, tuna, and canned fruit into bags and onto the truck. Y lifted all of the heavy boxes and unloaded the canned food to keep the ladies working efficiently in the bagging line. I broke down all of the cardboard boxes from the canned foods and brought them to the recycling bin. Together, we were able to make 800 bags of food for families!
