Miss Vietnam of Northern California Intercollegiate will be co-hosting various entertainment activities for the annual Hoi Tet Trung Thu (The Autumn Moon Festival) with the Vietnamese American Community Center, which will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2012 at the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds on Tully Rd in San Jose. Hoi Tet Trung Thu will gather a collective amount of entertainments, fair booths, carnival rides, lion/dragon dance performances, and much more. The main attraction/highlight though will be the lantern parade for the children to enjoy. Entrance tickets are $6/person with free parking in the Monterey Rd parking lot, with free lanterns and moon cakes for the children.
As mentioned, we will be co-hosting a youth talent contest open to all high school students of Northern California themed “Sinh Viên Phục Vụ Và Xây Dựng Cộng Đồng” (Students Contributing to and Building Community). The winners will be chosen on their collective score of the different categories they performed in (GPA, essay score, talent, etc.). There will be three monetary prize levels starting with $1,000 dollars for first place and all three winners will receive a community plaque to commemorate their achievements. For high school students who would like to find out more information regarding requirements, how to apply, and deadline, please visit Sinh Viên Phục Vụ Và Xây Dựng Cộng Đồng for more details or email Hoi Tet Trung Thu at trungthusanjose[at]gmail.com . The page is currently written in Vietnamese, but an English version is currently in the making.
Aside from co-hosting for the youth talent contest, we will also be walking for an Ao Dai fashion show by singers/fashion designers Tuong Nguyen & Tuong Khue, showcasing their newest collection. With countless festive activities and entertainments, it’s the one celebration you do not want to miss!
