Theresa Ngọc-Lan Hoang was born in Tracy, California and is twenty-two years old. She is an undergraduate student at the University of California, Berkeley as an Environmental Earth Science major and is expected to graduate this May. Some of her honors and awards include the Charles H. Ramsden Endowed Scholarship from UC Berkeley’s Earth and Planetary Science department to support her trip to Ecuador with Global Student Embassy (GSE) for a reforestation project as well as the California Alumni Scholarship Association Leadership Scholarship, a prestigious, merit-based scholarship that recognizes Cal students who demonstrate innovative, motivational leadership impacting their academic, work, or community environments.
In her spare time, Theresa enjoys playing the piano and has previously performed in Certificate of Merit State Conventions. She is also an avid hip hop dancer and breakdancer, using dance as an outlet for expression and creativity. Theresa loves to bake and hopes to attend culinary school for a degree in pâtisserie and baking in the future.
Theresa is currently employed as a Receptionist/File Clerk at the Institute for Law Policy Planning (ILPP), a nonprofit policy and research organization specializing in public safety and criminal justice systems, facilities, and health planning as well as training and facilitation. With Theresa’s past work experience with GSE, VIA (Volunteers in Asia), and OneVietnam Network, along with her present experience with ILPP, she has realized that her passions sway in the nonprofit sector. She hopes to find a position working with nonprofit organizations post-graduation and aspires to eventually attend graduate school for either a Masters in Environmental Management or Masters in Public Administration.
